What is CoLAB?
The new pilot project, CoLAB, will see our local community, an artist, and researchers at the University of Cambridge come together and have fun. As a group, they will creatively explore and assist research that is currently underway at the University. Dr Louise Hickman at the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy is investigating how people with a diverse range of needs physically access arts and culture in the city and how this will inform the future of work. By exploring this topic creatively and with local voices, CoLAB will produce new data that responds to the city’s priorities.
How can I get involved?
Artist Kaitlin Ferguson will make-over the Clore Learning Studio at Kettle’s Yard to become a creative laboratory. You are invited to join her at Kettle’s Yard from Saturday 13 August until Sunday 4 September 2022. Everyone who takes part in CoLAB will have their thoughts, reflections and artwork collected, and will help to inspire a ‘Living Archive’. Kaitlin will bring this archive together and it will be shared back to the academics and researchers.
Kaitlin would love to meet with people in Cambridge who have lived experience of physical or sensory disabilities, or people who care for others with specific needs in order to make CoLAB a success. She would love to meet during July and early August. Please get in touch with us to find out more.
Throughout the project there will be opportunities to drop in to the Clore Learning Studio and take part, including workshops and activities aimed at specific ages and groups.
What will CoLAB do?
The project will bring new perspectives to research taking place in the city and form a bridge between the University and our local community.
CoLAB will share knowledge and experiences in a way useful to the city and University alike.
CoLAB opens on Saturday 13 August and runs until Sunday 4 September.
