I am really looking forward to getting the CoLAB space set up and the moment we open the doors to the public!
What is CoLAB? And who is it for?
CoLAB is a unique project which will take place during August in the Clore Learning Studio at Kettle’s Yard. We are going to set up a creative research lab which will be a collaborative artist studio for anyone to come and visit!
The project takes inspiration from current research happening at the University of Cambridge and will involve working with local communities to explore the ideas coming out of the research through art making.
I will be working with the research currently undertaken by Dr. Louise Hickman from the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy, who is investigating how people with a diverse range of needs physically access arts and culture in the city and how this will inform the future of work.
By exploring this topic creatively and with local voices, CoLAB will produce new data that responds to the city’s priorities.
What can we expect to see in the Clore Learning Studio during August?
During the course of CoLAB, the Clore Learning Studio will be transformed into a creative research space filled with exciting technology (including my clay 3D printer!), books, resources and artworks created by the community. The space will be warm and welcoming, so come have a cup of tea with us and chat about the project in more detail.
How can visitors get involved in the project?
We have an exciting programme of events which visitors can get involved in, everything from workshops with me which explore new art techniques and technologies, free family events such as Sunday Studio and open days where you can just drop in and find out how the project is coming along.
