Shikha joined Kettle’s Yard in January 2023 as Administration & Reporting Assistant.
She graduated from the University of Cambridge with an MPhil degree in Heritage Studies, where she explored, among other things, how heritage needs to be reconceptualised in the Anthropocene. Prior to that, she studied for an MA in Middle Eastern History from the School of Oriental and African Studies, where her research focused on the photographic representations of Palestine from the British Mandate period. She has a BA in South Asian History from Delhi University.
Apart from volunteering as Visitor Assistant in several museums in Cambridge, Shikha briefly interned at Historic England, where she helped develop a public engagement model for an exhibition displaying artifacts recovered from a Dutch shipwreck.
Favourite part of the house:
I have special admiration for St Edmund. The way Jim Ede saw art in a charred branch of a lightning-struck willow tree inspires me to seek beauty in the forces of nature. Its positioning near the exit of the House seems to call visitors to go out in the world and look for art everywhere.
