Meri joined the team at Kettle’s Yard in June 2022 as Development Assistant.
Before coming to Kettle’s Yard, Meri has previously worked in Visitor Experience for the National Trust and Paxton Pits Nature Reserve. Prior to this she studied Fine Art at the University of Leeds and the University of Lisbon, where she focused on museum and gallery studies and honed her painting practice. Meri continues painting and exhibiting her artwork in her spare time.
Meri’s favourite thing about Kettle’s Yard:
One of my favourite parts of Kettle’s Yard is the presence of nature within the house. Being very interested in the divide between interiors and exteriors in my own artwork, I love the way Jim Ede brought the outside, inside by featuring plants, flowers and natural found objects throughout the house. Perhaps my favourite example of this is the arrangement of objects on the tabletop in Jim’s bedroom. The stone spiral and shells bathed in the natural light from the cottage windows, perfectly compliment Gaudier-Brzeska’s Torpedo Fish (Toy) [3], whilst the yellow within the flower arrangement leads the eye back to the yellow in Miro’s Tic Tic.
