Georges Braque

Born 1882 – Died 1963
Braque was born in Argenteuil, near Paris. He was a member of the Fauve circle by 1906, but by 1909 his close collaboration with Pablo Picasso had led to the evolution of a revolutionary approach to painting, subsequently called Cubism. After World War I, Braque returned to more naturalistic still life and figure compositions, aiming at a perfect balance and harmony between colour and design.
