André Bauchant
Born 1873 – Died 1958
Bauchant was a French untrained painter who discovered his vocation for art late in life, after working as a mapmaker during World War I. A gardener by trade, his paintings displayed a great love of nature. Bauchant’s work was first exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in 1921. He became popular with many avant-garde artists, including Le Corbusier and Diaghilev.
