History of Music at Kettle’s Yard
Music has always been an important part of Kettle’s Yard, and concerts have been played here since 1970, when the inaugural concert was given by Jacqueline du Pré accompanied by Daniel Barenboim. Kettle’s Yard creators, Jim and Helen Ede, made the new extension of Kettle’s Yard with music performances in mind and left instructions that there were to be ‘at least three really good concerts every year’.
Today we offer around twenty concerts a year. Please see below to find out more about the three different programmes of music we have at Kettle’s Yard.
This combination of music and paintings is so right and so helpful, like alternating cheese with wine.

Our ticket prices are kept low thanks to the endowment left by our founder Jim Ede for the Chamber Music series. However this only supports a small part of our programme and we need your help to continue to support emerging artists and composers, and provide world class performances.
